Tirana is a walking city once you are at Skanderbeg Square.

Bulevardi Zogu I runs north from the square. Blloku is the café neighbourhood to the south. Dajti Mountain stands to the east.

Stay at Iona’s city home is on Bulevardi Zogu I. The building number is not published on this site.

The centre

Skanderbeg Square is the place to start. The Et'hem Bey Mosque and the Clock Tower are a very short walk from the square. The New Bazaar is a little further east.

On our house page these walks are measured from the square, because the apartment’s door number is not published. Treat them as city distances, not as a promise from your pillow.

Neighbourhoods

Bulevardi Zogu I is the tree-lined walk north of the square, about 1.1 km, with wide pavements and everyday cafés. That is our street.

Blloku is south of the square, the neighbourhood people mean when they talk about a long lunch or a late coffee. The Grand Park and the artificial lake are further south-east. None of these is a substitute for checking a map on the day.

What to do

Walk the square, the mosque and the Clock Tower, then the New Bazaar. If you want green space, continue toward the Grand Park. Dajti Mountain is east of the city. A cable car runs to the ridge, and the view looks back over Tirana.

Tirana is also the base for a day toward Durrës and the coast, or toward Kruja. We do not publish driving minutes for those trips.

Where to stay

Stay near the square if you want to walk at night. Our apartment is on Bulevardi Zogu I, so the square is the landmark, not a building number. The airport is at Rinas, about 11 km northwest of the city.

Wifi, parking, beds and check-in for this home are not on this site yet. They belong on the Airbnb, Booking.com, Expedia or Vrbo listing. Until that link exists, the buttons say coming soon.

Questions

Where should I stay in Tirana?

Near Skanderbeg Square if you want to walk to dinner.

Bulevardi Zogu I, Blloku and the streets just off the square all work. Our home is on the boulevard itself.

How far is the airport?

Tirana International Airport Nënë Tereza is at Rinas, about 11 km northwest of the city.

That figure is from a published reference, not a measurement from our door. Taxis and a bus serve the airport. Check the timetable.

Are the photos of the apartment?

No. The Tirana photographs on our house page are illustrative.

Interiors are stock images. The outdoor pictures are of the city, including Skanderbeg Square.

How do I book?

On a platform, not on this website.

No Tirana listing link is published here yet. Email stayationa@gmail.com and Iona can point you to it when it is live.

Key

  • Car rental
  • Taxi
  • Bus or furgon
  • Supermarket
  • Pharmacy

By taxi

Taxis wait at the airport. Ask for the Bulevardi Zogu I area, by Skanderbeg Square, not for a building number.

The published distance to the city is about 11 km. That figure is not a measurement to a door. If the car has no meter, agree the fare before you ride.

By rental car

Car rental desks are in the arrivals hall at Rinas, and rental offices are in central Tirana.

Drive toward the city centre, then to the Skanderbeg Square end of Bulevardi Zogu I. This site does not publish a parking promise for the Tirana home.

By bus or furgon

An airport bus runs between Rinas and Tirana. Check the timetable on the day, because it changes. It does not stop at the apartment.

From the centre, Bulevardi Zogu I is the walk north from Skanderbeg Square. Furgons are shared minibuses between towns. They are not a door-to-door ride from the airport to the apartment.
